Nothing Phone (1)
Yes, if it’ s not Apple, but neither Samsung, Xiaomi or Huawei, but you still want to be atomic-cool, then a Nothing Phone (1) is the right choice for you. It’s for geeks, but it’s still very cool. Like an “iPhone”, it will be recognized from a hundred meters away. Since it’s not a C-grade phone, but a 200,000 forints phone, it’s not the last as a status symbol either.
Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 series
Being a Korean brand, you don’t get these for as good a price as you would if you were buying a Chinese or Taiwanese gadget, but compared to Apple (apart from the cut-price iPhone SE 3), the price-value difference is still sky-high. For those who find the base models small, go for the Plus versions, or even the Ultra pieces, which also handle the S-Pen that makes note-taking so much easier. For those who find the price starting at 250-300k forints a lot, go for the A53s or A73s models.
Extra tip: if you’re brave, you can also choose used phones from a trusted source. They can cost as much as half the price of a new one. Be careful, however, never pay a stranger in advance, buy in person or at least by cash on delivery, and only if you have the receipt.
OnePlus Nord 2
If a super camera-video recorder is important to you, you can choose from a range of great OnePlus phones. Newly available from 130,000 forints. In addition, these are very advanced phones with lots of cool features.
Realme, Asus or Poco
If you’re a hardcore 3D gamer, it’s worth looking at gaming-centric devices instead of the above. In the top list, you’ll find the Asus ROG Phone 5 or 6, the Black Shark 5 Pro, the Nubia Red Magic 7.
These are quite expensive, so you might want to consider a Poco F4 GT or a Realme GT2 – which aren’t too expensive, but are still ideal for gamers.
Honor models
A big advantage of Honor is that, unlike its co-brand Huawei, it supports Google, so all the search giant’s apps (Gmail, Drive, Calendar) will work well on these devices. The Honor Magic 4 Pro could(should) be a good option, but we wouldn’t wholeheartedly recommend a phone currently costing 470,000 forints.
The only good value for money alternative is the very new 70 series (above) from September 2022. The 50 series is now much cheaper, but in this range offers from Samsung, Xiaomi, Relame, Poco and the aforementioned OnePlus brands are competitive.
