What is your work value?

Work values shape the worldview and preferences of working people and also influence their behavior as employees.

The category of work values includes those aspects that a worker aspires to and feels that they must be fulfilled in his/her career.

What is the purpose of working?

According to Schwartz, the purpose of work is success or ambition. The different perceptions of jobs values and attitudes towards working in different social strata are reflected in other theories as well.

The groups of work value

Perhaps the two best known groups of work values are extrinsic and intrinsic values.

These are explained below:

– For extrinsics, the achievement of some goal plays the roll. Behind this there are material things, such as earning an income, predictable employment, good working conditions and an adequate number of days off and breaks. The goal is to have a decent standard of living and a predictable way of life.

– As for intrinsics, on the other hand, it is an inner drive to achieve knowledge, to develop, to create and to have experiences. Important elements of intrinsic values are autonomy, independence and proactiveness, individual development and achievement.

More and more often during job interviews, employers ask what values we consider important in a job.

Which group do you fall into?

According to Wikipedia.org, a motivation may be either intrinsic, if the activity is desired because it is inherently interesting or enjoyable, or extrinsic, if the agent’s goal is an external reward distinct from the activity itself.

It has been argued that intrinsic motivation has more beneficial outcomes than extrinsic motivation.

Motivational states can also be categorized according to whether the agent is fully aware of why he acts the way he does or not, referred to as conscious and unconscious motivation.

Motivation is closely related to practical rationality. A central idea in this field is that we should be motivated to perform an action if we believe that we should perform it.

Failing to fulfill this requirement results in cases of irrationality, known as akrasia or weakness of the will, in which there is a discrepancy between our beliefs about what we should do and our actions.
